Physics 263 Mohand Shalaby Experiment – 3 Frequency Components of Non-Sinusoidal Waves 1. Introduction: This experiment has two parts to it. For the first part, we connect a waveform generator (for both sinusoidal and square waves) to an oscilloscope in a circuit and by capturing certain data we will examine the relation between the FFT magnitude and the frequency. In the second part, we look at the beats (which are nothing but the sum of two sin waves) produced by connecting two waveform generators to an oscilloscope (with and without a diode). The maximum frequency for the first part is: = fmax 12∆t 2. Apparatus: For part 1 we used apparatus in Fig1 and for part 2 we used apparatus in Fig2:
