Unformatted text preview: A childs fiber intake is calculated by taking the age of the child and adding 5. So a 5 year old child would need 10g of fiber (Van Horn, 1997). However upon reaching adulthood and having a 1500 or more calories the fiber recommendation remains 25g (Van Horn, 1997). I found the recommended intakes for children versus adults interesting.
