A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SECOND FLOOR CORNELL STORE EMPLOYEE On a chilly November Monday morning, George sets foot into the Cornell Store at approximately 7:00 AM. He walks into his office and glances at the posters hanging on his wall given to him by Cornell students in the College of Art, Architecture, and Planning. These decorations express the gratitude of architecture students who have been so lucky as to have had the opportunity to interact with one of the most dedicated employees currently at the Cornell store; the decorations are hand signed posters wishing George given to George on previous birthdays. This constitutes a beginning of one many days in George’s storied 36 year Cornell Store career. After settling in, George prepares for the mad rush that is working in the arts and supplies department of the Cornell Store in November. Architecture students do not have final exams, but they are required to complete final projects by the beginning of December. Consequently, working in the arts and supplies department around this time can be quite demanding. George plans and organizes books and supplies for students in the College of Art, Architecture, and Planning. Often this may mean that he has to build “kits” necessary for classes. That is, he sometimes has to put together supplies for classes that begin next semester. At 8:00 AM, an undergraduate architecture student, Julia, walks into the store,
