Veneration of Saints: The Churches had pressure to have as many Saints relics so that people would flock to their churches to pray so many of the relics ended up being fake. a. Corruption started (Churches would steal relics from other Churches, etc.) B. Pluralism C. Simony (mortal sin)- buy and selling of Church Offices a. Happened because many of the Churches Priest were not making ends meat so they had to do something to survive D. Immortality a. Sixtus IV (Pope) b. Alexander VI (Pope) c. Julius II (Pope) d. Leo X (Pope) 2. Reformation II: Beginnings A. Martin Luther (1483-1546)- German Monk a. Did not want to make a new church or religion but only wanted to reform the Catholic Church b. Luther was a well education man who was going into Law when he saw the devil and was told to he would have riches if he followed the devil instead of Christ. Luther through his ink at the Devils head. Not long after he was walking down the street and was almost killed by lighting. So he became a Monk.
