Educational Psych Notes 19:28 Announcements:  Case study for group one is due on Thursday 2/12. See spark for details.  No Office hours on Tuesday.  If there is a snow day when case study is due,  email it on time!  Then bring hard  copy to next class.  Prompt: Walk into any racially mixed high school and you will see black youth  seated together in the cafeteria. This is true for all races, and the same  phenomenon can be observed in colleges, and even corporate cafeterias. How  can we get passed racial issues and discuss these sensitive problems?  Think about your own experiences at Umass and in high school. Do students  self-segregate themselves by race or class? Are groups of students labeled?  How do those labels help or hinder students’ relationships with each other?  Group differences and regional differences make it hard to determine what  intelligence is/means.
