2 Kudler Introduction Kudler Fine Foods is a grocery store catering to shoppers that are looking for the finest foods from bake goods to dairy. Kudler Fine Foods has seen significant growth after opening the first store in 1998 (Kudler Fine Foods). As Kudler Fine Foods continues to grow the focus will be on the efficiency of operations and continue to satisfy customer needs as well as grow the customer base. The best way for Kudler Fine Foods to develop a good marketing plan is through marketing research and competitive intelligence. In this paper we will explore marketing research as well as competitive intelligence and how these can help Kudler Fine Foods accomplish their goal. Marketing Research Marketing research is the process of defining a marketing problem, collecting data for analysis and recommending actions based on the data (Kerin, et. al., 2009). Marketing research helps create a marketing strategy for product launches, business expansions, or a business plan. The importance of marketing research for Kudler Fine Foods because they are looking to expand their services and continue customer satisfaction. Developing a good marketing strategy based on the marketing research that Kudler Fine Foods will do will help them identify their weakness and improve on those. Kudler Fine Foods did two separate surveys one in 2008 and the other a year later in 2009. These surveys were made up of questions related to how the customer feel about the pricing, staff, type of goods sold and overall experience (Kudler Fine Foods).
