ME350 W10 Microcontroller & Data Acquisition Homework Page | 1 Due: Tuesday, Feb. 2 nd @ the beginning of lecture. Note: Please keep in mind that this is a very open ended homework assignment. In many cases, there are many possible correct solutions, try to do your best. Problem 1 You have been asked to prototype the following devices, the mechanical design is mostly complete and now you must choose an MCU/DAQ that you think would work for them. Explain your reasoning. a) An MCU for a basic mouse with two buttons an LED emitter & detector pair to track position. b) An MCU for a 104 key keyboard, assume that you may use up to 13 digital multiplexers that can convert 8 digital signals into one digital signal. Multiplexer Description: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiplexer . Problem 2 You have been asked to reverse engineer a piece of electronic equipment. Find a broken or sacrificial electronic device. Keep it simple. Remove any power and open it up. Locate the circuit board for controlling it and identify at least one MCU or 4 analog/digital integrated circuits (ICs).
