What is the value if θ = 2 degrees. 1.) Drawing out the relationships as it rotates is seen below. If we use a small angle approximation this means (theta must be in radians). Using this and the strain formula, we can approximate BA’ as just the original plus the sine of the angle, drop the complex geometry.

Determine the approximate normal strain in the wire when the frame is in this position. Assume the columns are rigid and rotate about their lower supports. 1.) Draw the structure as it is shifted to better visualize what is going on in the problem. 2.) Find the amount that the wire extends in the x‐direction.
