In Question #7 of the handout - 7. Describe two major pathways by which information reaches the somatosensory cortex. What is different about the information in these 2 pathways? Where do these two pathways decussate? Explain the consequences of a lateral lesion to the spinal cord for mechanosensation and sensation of pain (nociception). Explain the consequence of a lesion to the right postcentral gyrus. Are the 2 pathways supposed to be the dorsal root ganglia and the cranial nerve ganglia, because as i look over the slide outline there is no pinpointing 2 pathways specifically, because if so we did not speak of the cranial nerve ganglia as you read information on this system it also seems to hint the spinalcord and brainstem as pathways maybe i need the assistance of a diagram to see this pathways ? i am not sure Student 2: I think the two pathways referred to in the question are the mechanosensory pathway and nociception pathway (pathway for pain).
