Lakisah Mikell MNGT 5590 Case 2.1 Organizational Culture: Life or Death 1. What values appear to be driving the doctors and nurses in the hospitals to treat heart attack patients? The values that are driving the doctors and nurses is to provide consistent, quality, effective, and efficient therapy to treat the heart attack patients. Their goal is to respond as quickly as possible to restoring the heart back to a healthy state. They also value each life and how quickly they can save each life that comes into the hospitals. It only takes seconds to lose a life due to the reduction in the response time and it’s important for everyone involved in the process to be consistent while providing efficiency. 2. Why must a person’s work habits match the team culture in the hospitals

Out of the 11 hospitals that were researched, it was found that the more successful hospitals were better organized and the teams functioned together as a whole. Within working in such a fast-paced and pressure-filled environment, a persons work habits matching a hospitals culture is critical to its success. If an individuals work habits and values dont match the culture, it would be impossible for a hospital to provide quality and efficient service while balancing different protocols and executing them. Its like a broken link in a bicycle chain. If one link isnt cooperating, the bicycle would be impossible to ride. A hospital wont be as efficient in saving lives when someones work habits arent in line with the culture....
