Case Summary McDonald’s is a global company that serves over 50 million customers in more than 32,000 locations. Because of its globalization, McDonald’s has taken on the ability to adapt to cultures around the world by offering specialty products that cater to different cultural and local tastes. They also have implemented the Dollar Menu for the price conscious customers who may be feeling the effects from the current recession. While this may be great for customers, McDonald’s might be sacrificing their profit margins because of increasing food prices. But, McDonald’s has found a way to continue spreading the word to new customers by utilizing the public to blog about their products, restaurants, and corporate offices. They’re also increasing their social responsibility image by participating in various charitable organizations, including the Ronald McDonald House which provides medical assistance to critically ill children and accommodates their families while being far away from home. By reaching out to various demographics, including selling the Arch Card to the corporate segment, McDonald’s is continuing to maximize their profits while reaching every market segment possible. Franchising – A form of licensing in which a franchiser, in exchange for a financial commitment, grants a franchisee the right to market its product in accordance with the franchiser’s standards.
