Columbus Discussion Assignment
Introduction : For this assignment, you are to provide answers to some of the discussion
questions from the Christopher Columbus and the Enterprise of the Indies textbook by Geoffrey
Symcox and Blair Sullivan. The questions are located on pages 182-183. After you have
completed reading the textbook, choose 9 of the 14 questions and compose detailed responses to
them.
Requirements : The due date for this assignment is Friday, April 30 at 11PM. Please turn in your
paper through the WebCT assignments section. There is no set minimum or maximum length for
this assignment. All I request is that you provide thorough and detailed responses to your 9
questions. This report will count as 10% toward your final grade. More details about this
assignment are listed in the assignment directions sheet in the assignments section.
ProQuest Assignment
Introduction : For this assignment, you are to read a journal article about an issue related to
topics from the first half of the class. You are required to use the ProQuest database from the
Mesa College library (the link to the library is in the "web links" section). You are to select your
article from a list of six approved journals. Those journals are listed on the assignment file for
this exercise. This assignment is to be 5-7 pages in length (not including a title page), and the due
date is listed in the assignment section. This assignment will count as 15% of your class grade.
Requirements : Click "assignments" on the course tools menu to obtain more information about
this assignment, as well as the username and password to obtain access to the ProQuest database.
Please use Microsoft Word for your assignment. Please do not use WordPerfect nor Microsoft
Works for this assignment as I do not possess those programs on my computer. The format of
this assignment is similar to that of both the book review and US-Mexico War assignments.
