Everyone experiences situational anxieties but dispositional usually affects people in most parts of their lives How do situational anxiety and dispositional anxiety differ? Situational Anxiety is stage fright. .. Unprepared Fear of evaluation Negative Self talk Formal/Nominal Situations When you get nervous, significant conversations, blushing…unprepared Dispositional Anxiety is Trait like Poor parent models…bad surroundings…ed Poor development skills…learned later than normal. ..talk less because when one has lower communication skills than another, that person wont talk Inadequate positive reinforcement…no response, talking is discouraged Heredity Dispositional CA goes both ways Consequences : Anxiety permeates most parts of their lives ex. Don’t do as well in class and miss many opportunities through out their schooling due to the apprehension While in college they do just as well b/c in large lectures. .participation is not vital Positives : Just as possible for people to be too outgoing ex. Talkaholics When among people they know very well, many of those neg. attributes associate
