GRIFFITH UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENT OF ACCOUNTING, FINANCE and ECONOMICS 2104AFE Management Accounting Due Time and Date: 3 pm, Monday, 19 th May, 2010 GROUP ASSIGNMENT: 20% OF FINAL GRADE Your group members are all employees at Possums Management Accounting Consultancy business. Your boss has given your group the task of dealing with four problems that his clients are currently having: Client One: June Company needs you to show them how to generate budgets for the first quarter of the next financial year beginning July 1, 2010. (12 out of 60 marks) Client Two: Quality Boxes requires your assistance with their job costing system. ( 15 out of 60 marks) Client Three: Woodgrain has had some of its records destroyed and you are required to piece together their ledger accounts. (18 out of 60 marks) Client Four: Fantasia Flour Milling Company has requested assistance with proration and their process costing system. (15 out of 60 marks) Instructions: 1. Students please TYPE/write your answers clearly and indicate prominently which part of the question you are answering. 2. The letters and numbers of all reports and spreadsheets must have a minimum font size of 10ppt . Any case study with a font size smaller than this may not be assessed. 3. Please submit your answers to the Assignment Collection Centre. You are required to fill out and sign the appropriate assignment front sheet for Business courses. Also, you should retain a second copy of your group’s case study. 4. Please note any further instructions that were given in the course outline. 5. Each member of a group has a RIGHT and a RESPONSIBILITY to make an active contribution towards the completion of the group project. A statement declaring that a joint and equitable contribution has been made by each member of the group is required to be submitted with the assignment. A pro-forma declaration is available on the website. If the group members are unable to sign and attach the declaration form to the case study then minutes of group meetings should be submitted with the assignment. A sample copy of minutes for the group meetings is also available from the website. 2104AFE Management Accounting Case Study One: Budgeting Due Time and Date: 3 pm, Monday, 19 th May, 2010 PART A: The June Company produces two products, A and B. The company predicts a sales volume for 2010 of 10,000 units for product A, and a required closing Finished Goods Inventory of 2,000 units. For product B the company predicts a sales volume of 12,000 units and a required closing Finished Goods Inventory of 3,000 units. At present the opening Finished Goods Inventory for product A is 7,000 units while the inventory for product B contains 9,000 units. To produce these products the following raw materials are required:
