Digital vs. Analog System Digital system: Combination of devices designed to manipulate physical quantities represented in digital form discrete values. Analog system : contains devices that manipulate physical quantities that are continuous .
Digital System • We choose Digital Systems • Units of Digital Information Bit: A binary digit information is represented in digital computers by groups of bits. • Binary: Signals use two discrete values and therefore said to be binary HIGH (H) / LOW (L) = TRUE (T) / FALSE (F) = ON / OFF = 1 / 0. Byte: a group of 8 bits.
