4/19/2009 I ARRIVE TO A NEW LAND It was like a dream come true on that very cold Sunday morning, as my plane landed in America. The breeze when I walked out the plane reminded me that I was in the land of the free. The air was filled with liberation and freedom. My trip to America was as a result of the brutal war in my country. During this war, many people died and countless number of children were wounded. My family were able to make it through this war by escaping to the United states. I can remember the cold Tuesday morning vividly, when the surrounding neighborhoods were filled with soldiers and bombs. Children were roaming the streets without their parents and babies were left to die on the lonely Monrovia roads. Many families were divided and children were left without their parents. During this war, no one was safe from the bullets that were constantly sprayed by the soldiers. The streets were filled with screams and cries from hurting people and mothers looking for their
