Economic Growth: -After 1850 trade grew -Latin America’s economy grew because of exporting -Moved into World Economy -Low demand Mexico’s Struggle for Stability a. Santa Anna and War: -Santa Anna=powerful -He was against reform -1845: U.S annexed Texas; Texan discontent -Big war Mexico lost half of its territory b. La Reforma: -1855: Benito Juarez seized power and reformed Latin America -Wanted less military and church power -Civil War; -French helped the conservative forces - Benito elected prez
