Summary Well-produced graphics convey information and enhance the appearance of documents, making them more attractive and inviting the reader to engage with the content. The quality of your written documents may be improved because the process of planning and integrating graphics encourages you to look at information from another perspective. Graphics are also essential for presentations. They help the listener to follow the flow of the presentation, to understand what you are saying and to remember your key points as well as adding interest. The effectiveness of graphic communication depends on the quality of planning. When planning: clearly state your purpose identify your audience identify any barriers to communicating your message produce a range of options identify any resources you might need. A badly drawn or inaccurate graphic is worse than no graphic at all. Where data is used for comparison, ensure that it is consistent with the data to which it is being compared.
