Belenkaya, E.S.(2009).Magnetospheres of Planets with an Intrinsic Magnetic field. Physics- Usepekhi 52 (8), 765-788. This review article contains modern views on the physics of Mercury’s magnetosphere and on the structure of its magnetospheric magnetic fields. The article presents the interaction between the solar wind and the planetary magnetic field, by considering common and individual sources of magnetic fields and the properties of planetary magnetospheres. The article states that a magnetosphere surrounding a planet forms as a result of the interaction between the solar wind and the planetary magnetic field, and the dynamics of magnetospheres are primarily enforced by solar wind variations.
