Unformatted text preview: OPTI 280 Assignment 12 Spring 2010 Due Date: 4/26/2010 1:00PM Each assignment is worth 100 points. Assignments that are handed in late will be penalized 15 points per week. NOTE: To receive full credit for any problem, you must hand in printouts of all programs you are asked to write as well as printouts of all command window output and any plots that the programs produce. All programs must conform to the programming rules handed out at the beginning of the semester. Write the answers to the question(s) associated with each problem at the end of program for that problem (on the same sheet, if possible). 1. A periodic waveform of frequency having any shape (square waves, triangle waves, sawtooth waves, etc.) can be constructed by adding up appropriately weighted cosine or sine waves of frequency and all harmonics of (i.e., cos4 t, cos6 t, cos8 t, cos10 t,... ). For example, a familiar waveform of frequency can be constructed from the series: Tri ( t ) = 4 2 X k =0 1 (2 k + 1) 2 cos[ (2 k + 1) t ] Write a little MatLab program that shows this graphically by displaying four plots for the specific case where = 1 and in the variable range t = 3 to t = 3. The first plot should just show the first term in the series above. The second plot should show the sum of the first two terms inthe first term in the series above....
