English 1B Th 6:15 Mar, 2006 Paper #3 “Music in Poetry” Music is the universal language people use to express emotions. Poems and songs can be written in similar ways and are often intertwined to deliver a specific message or meaning. Although there are several different writing styles poets use, poems and music can be interpreted in ways we can all relate to. The words expressed through poetry and music are often words of wisdom, struggle, rejoice, love, life, death, drugs and so on. Everyone has felt these emotions at one point in their lives and have used a favorite poem or a favorite song to seek reassurance, guidance and solace. The artists who write these songs and poems use their words to help themselves get through their own emotional ups and downs as well. Therefore, the poem is not just for the reader but for the writer as well.
