Future of Modernization Paper Modernization can best be seen as Emile Durkheim states a “division of labor”. This idea made the most sense to me considering how modernization continues to grow similar to that of the growth of the world’s population. As the population of the world continues to grow so has modernization and urbanization throughout the entire planet. In order for the world to continue and keep moving, those who occupy earth must world to survive, keep some source of income. This is specifically how modernization has continued to grow and manifest in the United States. As the population size increases, there needs to be more jobs for these people to live. And as Durkheim explains, this is what causes the manifestation of modernization. As more people need to work they look for jobs, as most of these jobs have been filled they need to acquire new skills. As technology has vastly advanced and, has moved the rich to wealthy, people look to this as a source to advance as well. This idea of wealth is why modernization has grown and is still growing at a rapid pace in the United States. Modernization and population go hand in hand in growth because of the fact that they grow together. Modern people have almost become addicted to the idea of new technological invention and advancements. This is why modernization has grown more rapid over the past hundred years than it has in the past 1,000 years. The idea of a gadget that can make life easier and allow one to now multitask has only continued to further modernization. So, the average person in the United States is more reliant upon a device than their
