Short for favorites icon Also known as a website icon, shortcut icon, url icon or bookmark icon 16x16, 32x32 or 64x64 pixel square icon Microsoft created the original favicon feature for IE - favicon.ico Web browsers Mozilla Firefox and Opera added support for favicons Supported graphics formats: ICO PNG GIF Create an Image in Photoshop If you do not have an icon image, then create one in Photoshop . Save it as an ICO, PNG or GIF image file format. Use the File Save for Web option. You can call it something like icon.png . If you want to take a portion out of an existing image, then crop an image in Photoshop . XHTML Code In the <head> element of your HTML code (at the top of the head element under the title element OR right above the closing </head> tag), put ONE of the following lines depending on the type of file. <link rel="icon" type="image/vnd.microsoft.icon"
