They basically introduce degrees of interactivity or DHTML. Behaviors have two core componenets: Triggers/Events and Actions. Events: What user interaction will trigger the behavior? Some examples are mousing over an object or clicking it . When you create behaviors, you always start by selecting the object on which the event will be associated (not necessarily the one with which the action will be). Actions: These are the actual Javascript/DHTML functionalities such as changing an image, bringing up an alert message, opening a new browser windows, etc. Actions will usually have parameters to be defined through an authoring GUI such as which image will be changed (and to what new image), what page will be loaded into
