5/25/10 2:49 PM Photo Album Page 1 of 4 http://www-rcf.usc.edu/~trinagre/itp104/lectures/PhotoAlbum.html Photo Album Using Placeholder Image Album - New Window Using Placeholder Image You can create photo album that shows thumbnail versions of images and replaces an image that is acting like a placeholder. An example is the Restaurants page of Trojan Kitchen . You see three images put into a table. When you rollover them with your mouse, the black placeholder image changes. 1. Create or find some regular-size images that you want to use. You will want them to fit in your container div, so they shouldn't be wider than that div (which is probably around 800). It is better if they are the same (or similar in) size. To adjust the size, use the Crop Tool in Photoshop . 2. Create some thumbnail versions of your images. They should be a small size such as 100x100 or 64x64. You can shrink the larger image down in Photoshop by using Image Image Size . You could also just take a small sample of the large image by using the Crop Tool in Photoshop . 3. You may create a placeholder image like I did in Photoshop . It is a black image with white text saying "Roll mouse over thumbnails to view".
