Jennifer M. Hutt HDFS 240-Human Sexuality Legalization of Prostitution Section 1: I think that to legalize prostitution it would be wrong in so many ways. It would cause more women to be promiscuous. It would create more of a spread of Sexually Transmitted Diseases. It would cause more people to pay for sex and it could potentially ruin a relationship. The cause of human trafficking would be much greater as well. People could be sold to or kidnapped and forced to work the streets. An example of this would be from the movie “Taken” with Liam Neeson when his daughter was kidnapped, taken away, drugged, and forced to work the streets. It really only takes one sexual encounter with someone else to get an STD especially sex with a prostitute. The other person that one may be consenting to have sex with could have either not known or lied about having an STD. An example if this not knowing about having an STD would be my mother’s cousin. He got HIV from someone that had no idea he even had it. People should not have to resort to paying for sex because there are plenty of fish in the sea. Prostitution is looked down upon and so many women do it to support their drug habits as well as themselves. I was greatly influenced by the media as well as when I went to Las Vegas where prostitution was legal eight years ago. (Not sure if it still is there, but from watching CSI I am thinking it still is).
