Week 4 Film Review “Innocent Voices” This film caused me to do further research and read more into the war in Central America. I don’t even know where to begin with this film. It was so heart wrenching and true to a T. This film is one of the very few movies about Central America that take an honest look at the region’s social, cultural, and political reality of the recent past. This true story is a compelling drama about the brutal civil war in El Salvador during the 80’s. Oscar Torres was a co-writer of this movie script and this film was based on his childhood experiences in El Salvador. This movie tells the story of a boy named Chava who lives in a small village with his mother, brother, and sister. His father left them behind to go to the United States once the war began to survive. The village that Chava lived in lies between the capital controlled by the El Salvador army and the area controlled by the peasant guerilla fighters which suffers raids and attacks from both sides often. This movie received the most attention from people
