FINAL ECE 161A, Fall 2008 Some Guidelines for the Fall Please sit as far apart as possible. Please keep your answer sheet under your control at all times. Please show your work as it may enable you to receive partial credit. Please note that you are allowed to only use the text book and a sheet of handwritten notes. Please hand in the sheet of notes along with your answer sheets. You are allowed to use a calculator for simple calculation purposes only. Good luck. 1. Consider the linear time-invariant filter given by the signal flow graph above (All nodes are summing nodes). 20 points (a) Find the transfer function of the filter? (b) Is the filter FIR or IIR? Find the impulse response of the filter (c) Is it linear phase? if yes, what type? (d) Draw a direct form II implementation of the filter? (e) Draw a cascade implementation of the filter? 2. Prove or disprove the following statements 15 points (a) If H c ( s ) is a continuous time all pass filter, then H ( z ) obtained by a bilinear transfor- mation of H c ( s ) is a discrete time all pass filter.
