Unformatted text preview: Midterm Exam - MAE143B Spring 2010; Tuesday May 4 Instructions 1. You have 75 minutes; 9:30 to 10:45. 2. The exam is open-book and open-notes. 3. Answer all the questions you are able to. 4. The questions are of equal value. The question parts are not. 5. I have indicated by an arrow flying away from you, N , in the margin everywhere I have asked you to do something. 6. The exam is long. So pick your questions carefully. I expect only the most able students to complete all questions. 7. There are no tricks, only observations. 8. If you cannot conclude a part of a question, you may use the result in answering the next part. 9. Almost all the questions are of the ”show that ...” type. 10. There are few calculations and nothing complicated. There is no matlab. 11. Please write neatly and clearly. Use good grammar and think about your explanations.
