Psychology Final Exam info 29/03/2010 19:09:00 Contemporary Psychodynamic-oriented Psychotherapies Therapy based on Eog psychology  -based on the ego …allows ppl to be much healthier, ego can reveal  unconscious processies to you.  Focus o present day, not interested in the past. o Explore Ego’s adaptive functions and Id’s impulses o Collaborative relationship with client Goal of Treatment  o Bolster clients Ego strength; want the ego to be the strongest one  there. o Working through current difficulties and conflicts… o Provide a relationship experience that will lead  client to self- actualization. The ego wants to be good…interested in trying new  things.  Therapy based on Object Relations problems in relationships and current sense of self was developed due to  problems in relationships in your early childhood…bad attachment in the past, bad  relationships, etc…will develop poor self esteem. .typically means u’ve had bad  relationship with your mom.  Focus o Nature of patients interpersonal relationships; how the patients relate  to other people. o Pattern of interpersonal behaviors. Current relationships. What you  tend to do in relationships.  o Transference  relationship; treat the therapist like someone important  in their life in the past…reenact with the therapist. Goal o Provide empathetic response/nurturing that client missed as an infant
