I scanned for bold print, or blue headings so I knew what to expect in the reading. Question What questions did you ask? How can I read faster, but still comprehend the reading? How do I get in emotionally into the reading when I have no interest in it? What activities can I do to build my vocabulary? What learning path works for me? Is it one, or a combination? Read How did you read? First I read the passages all the way through so I could get an understanding of them. Then I went back and re-read to answer the questions that I had. Recite What did you recite? I always read outloud, it helps me comprehend what I am reading. I can read to myself but it takes a lot longer for me to understand what I am reading. I read this to my 3 month old GEN 105

Wrap-up Questions : How successful was the SQ3R process in helping you grasp the concepts in the section you selected? The process was very successful in helping me grasp the concepts of the reading that I selected. By the end of the reading I could answer all of the questions that I had about the reading without looking at it. I had actually never practiced the whole asking questions before I read thing too. I found it very useful and effective in my retention. Will you use SQ3R in the future as a way to master the content in academic readings? I will use the SQ3R in the future. I found it to be very helpful and very effective. Before I would just read my materials and then if I didn’t understand it I would re-read it.
