Lloyd 1 S. Lloyd Professor Fernandez IGE 120H Fall, 2008 Writing Assignment 1 Art Art, in all its forms, is a creative, intellectual, and thoughtful expression that is intentionally provocative. In other words, I consider art to be a creation that stimulates the senses, the psyche, and the soul. For my example of art, I chose a portrait that I did of my girlfriend, Kimberly Yankovich. I drew this portrait in my art class at Pasadena City College approximately six months ago. Based on my definition of art, I approached this assignment with the attitude that I would not make my selection until I found a piece of art that made me feel something.

Unformatted text preview: I began by looking through all my back issues of ARTnews, browsing the internet, and finally looking at my own work. Sadly, I felt hardly anything from the published examples; it was not until I came across Kimberly’s portrait that my emotions were stirred. I knew immediately that this was going to be my choice! I relate and identify with Kimberly; she opens things up for me. She is the only woman who I have ever woken up next to and felt truly happy. When I look into her eyes I feel vulnerable and comfortable at the same time. I guess I am just trying to say that the sun rises and sets with her. I love her....
