The swing era is a historical moment of the music history, it not only changed the culture values but also let the black culture emerged to the American culture. This was the era that whites and blacks communicated through music, they learned from each other and blacks started having their positions during that time. The swing era “is a period in which black people often attended concerts by white dance bands, and whites began to study an imitate black culture with greater passion and in greater numbers than ever before- did represent a step forward in cultural communication across racial boundaries” (Starr and Waterman, 124). Practically, black culture had been more acceptable than before, but that did not mean they had been treating equally, due to the economic and social disadvantages, they did not get equal airtime on radio.
