English 101 Interview 1 Kennedy Figaretti Most younger children, today, watch channels such as the Disney channel or Nickelodeon; however, looking back on my childhood, I was also interested in shows such as ER, Rescue 911, and other medical television shows. Since I have had in interest in this type of work for as long as I can remember, I have always dreamt of becoming a pediatrician. A had taken much interest in medicine and children at such a young age. As I grew older and went into my high school years, I realized I did not want to take on the responsibility of being a doctor and dealing with long work hours, seeing and putting children in pain and the process of becoming one. At this point in my life I no longer had any idea what I wanted to do with my life and this continued on into my second year of college. Even though I had no specific career in mind, I knew I wanted to work with kids outside of the school scene. One day in class I got to talking to an old high school friend and he told me about his major that was called Speech Pathology and Audiology. He explained to me about the program and what this field dealt with. As soon as we were done talking I knew that this was exactly what I wanted to do with my life. It was perfect, I can work with children who have disabilities, it is somewhat in the medical field, and to top it off it has good pay. After deciding this is what I wanted to study, I looked into the program, took a couple classes regarding Speech Pathology and Audiology, and met a really nice professor who is brilliant in this field, named Norman Lass. Dr. Lass is a specialist in speech science.
