BUS207 UNIT 1 PAPER 2 Ethical Principles During my reading of Joelle in chapter two, I believe that the principles that can be applied to this situation are utility and egoism. There are many reasons why I think that the utility principle can be applied to this situation. The first reason that comes to mind is that Joelle wants to make a career for herself which involves the well-being of others. She wants to become a chemical engineer and that helps everyone one way or another. She works at a business where the manager is doing wrong. I think that everyone in the town, or city, is involved in this problem. With the manager dumping the chemicals in the lake, he is harming the people around him. Utility principle is defined as everyone being involved in the situation. Therefore, good or bad, everyone is drawn in, making this a utility principle. The second reason I think that this is a utility principle is because the manager knew what
