Techniques in Preparing Solutions Ashay Mehta September 4 th , 2009 Objective: To successfully prepare a solution of a certain concentration accurately and precisely. Theory: We will find the molarity, molality, weight percent and parts per million using the data that we will find in order to make the solution. Procedure: First, I weighed the container. Then I weighed both the KMnO 4 and the container in order to get 0.31 grams of KMnO 4. Then I transferred that amount into a 50 mL volumetric flask. Then, I added diluted water and swirled the solution. Then I took the pipet and transferred the solution into a sample container. Finally, I labeled the sample container. Data: Weight of container – 19.8908 grams Weight of container and KMnO 4 – 20.2008 grams Weight of KMnO 4 – 0.31 grams Density – 0.99823 g/mL
