2 Information Systems Department The Human Resources department would use information systems to pinpoint suitable candidates for job opportunities. For example: Wal-Mart uses an electronic job application in which a test is included. If the person applying for the job does not meet the correct scores that Wal-Mart is looking for, then their application never even makes it into the hands of the person who does interviews. I know this because I used to work at Wal-Mart. I think this is a great example of how information systems can help in even the hiring process. In the Marketing Department, an information system can be used to identify the right type of customer

Unformatted text preview: for any given product. For example, if a company is selling jewelry, they may want to know the demographics of who is more likely to buy the jewelry. Most would think that women would be more inclined to buy it; however, it is usually the men who do the actual purchasing of most jewelry for their wives and loved ones. An information system could pinpoint who does the buying, what time of year they are more likely to buy, and how much they are willing to spend. This will give a company more knowledge about their consumers and will make selling and marketing the product easier....
