[1 mark] A set of interrelated and interdependent components that function together to achieve a common goal or function. b) Information. [1 mark] Data that has been processed/manipulated & made useful to someone. They tell you something that you did not know (were not sure of). (i.e. sales report, student’s transcript) c) Semi-structured Decisions. Give an example and explain your example.[4 marks] Semi Structured Decisions: Some elements of decision making are known but some other elements are not. Not as easy as the Structured decision, but simpler than the Unstructured decisions. [2 marks] e.g. Middle level manager in a retail store must decide how many shovels to order for this winter…. Unknown elements… how harsh this winter in going to be? Known factors: there is going to be snow [2 marks] d) Leading question. Give an example. a) Flow-type events and Temporal events. Give an example for each type of event by drawing a diagram. [6 marks] Flow type events: [2 marks] Initiated & triggered by the terminators - Come from outside, associated with the incoming flows (data sent to our system by the terminator) System starts preparing response for F-type events as soon as it becomes aware that the events have occurred [Diagram 1 mark] order (F) Temporal event: [2 marks] Occurs at certain point in time or in certain predefined intervals.
