Unformatted text preview: ph of Measured Force (N) Versus Mass (kg) Randy Brackins Experiment #4 Date of Experiment: 09/17/09 Date of Submission: 09/24/09 Experiment # 4 Newtons law of Motion Purpose: The purpose of this lab is to experience the three laws of motion. The first law being law of inertia, second law is F=ma and the third law is every action has an opposite and equal reaction Apparatus: Track, two cars, meter stick Data Studio, weights, balancer, two photo-gates. Method: In the first part of the lab uses Newton’s first law of motion. Data Studio is used to calculate the velocity at two different points on the track by gently moving the car. The second part of the lab uses Newton’s third law of motion. Data Studio helps to calculate the velocity at different points and them the masses are multiplied by the velocity. The third part of the lab uses Newton’s second law of motion. The track is placed at an angle, velocity is calculated, and then by acceleration formula, acceleration is calculated...
