DATA ORGANIZATION SHEET EXP CONSERVATION OF ENERGY Cart and Picket M = _______ kg hanging mass m (kg) h (m) E p = mgh (J) V (m/s) E k = 2 ) ( 2 1 v m M + (J) E k (J) E p (J) Percent difference Method: The apparatus was set as shown in figure above, the cart and hanging masses are placed and Data Studio was turned on. The velocity is recorded as the cart passes through photo gates, and those calculations for the velocity were used to calculate the change in the potential and kinetic energies. As well as the distance traveled by cart along with the height of the hanging weights.
