The English equivalents are called pre positions, because they pre cede the noun: “ in the house,” “ on the table” Hindi post positions always follow a noun or pronoun: " मकान ^ , " ” ]ज़ पर ” Post positions change the form − the “case” − of the nouns that they follow.
