1. Permanent campaign (and key developments)- continous non stop campaigning since day one you are campaigning; developments: separate election days for fed state and local, spread of primary elections, party loose of pwer rise of mass communication 2. Delegate: a person or rep that reflects opinions of those who elect them for office, trustee: acts on behalf of their constituenceas if they were rep their best interest 3. Madisonian Democracy- the problem is self interest which leads to conflict the solution is dispersed power and representation. Groups will form balance each other. No tyranny no dominant group. 9. Unitary system=stronger fed gov centralized system were lower level have lil power, fed syst=shared power, confed syst=privelages the states. 17.Defense of Marriage Act (1996)- man and women 18.Commerce Clause- constitutional provision that gives congress the power to regulate commerce amongst states. 19.Equality of opportunity- the notion that individuals should have an equal chance to advance eco through individual talent and hard work. 20.Equality of condition- the notion
