Linear Functions A linear function f is defined by f(x) = mx+b , where m is the slope and (0, b) is the y-intercept. The output of a linear function changes by a constant amount for each unit increase in the input. 2

Unformatted text preview: a) Find a linear function f that calculates the change in the acres of rain forest in millions in x years. b) Evaluate f(7) and interpret the result. 5 The number N of doctors in the private sector from 1970 to 2000 can be approximated by N(t)= 15,260 t + 333,200, where t is in years and t = 0 corresponds to 1970. a) Evaluate N(0) and N(30) and interpret each result. b) Explain what the numbers 15,260 and 333,200 represent in the formula. c) Graph N(t) on your calculator. Find a good viewing window for N(t) . 6...
