2Job Description An up to date and well detailed job description is an important tool to have in an organization. A job description or analysis is a well detailed determination of a specific job’s duties and requirements and their importance, examining how, why, and when they are performed (Chungyalpa & Karshma, 2016). A job description can also be used by HR or managers to assist in determining compensations, performance evaluations, training, and promotions (Youssef, 2015). HR is responsible for making sure a positions job description is up to date and well detailed. This is something that should be done on a minimum once a year, unless there is a change in an organization or a circumstance that calls for it (Tyler, 2013). While creating and maintain a job description falls under the responsibility of management/HR, it is important to involve both HR/managers and employees since they are overlapping responsibilities (Tyler, 2013). Employees can provide a more detailed description of their day to day responsibilities, while managers can provide the goals and overview of what they expect out of a position. When creating a position with a company, HR must first determine the tasks related to that position. The tasks related to a position provide a look into a particular job’s activity (Youssef, 2015).
