Malta’s population includes about 411,452 people and the country’s rate of growth is 0.7%. The doubling time is 10,000 years which is much slower than the world’s average. 2. What is the birth rate, the death rate, the immigration rate and emigration rate? Does this data agree with the rate of growth from #1? ((b+i) – (d+e)) The birth rate is 10 births/1000 people. The death rate is 8 births/1000 people. The immigration rate is 5 immigrants/ 1000 people. The emigration rate is 3 emigrants/1000 people. (10 + 5) – (8 + 3) = 15 – 11 = 4 .04 Yes, the data agrees with the rate of growth from #1. 3. Draw the population age structure. Indicate how the age structure indicates the replacement fertility rate? The age structure indicates the replacement fertility rate because the replacement fertility rate would be equal to the widest point on the population age structure.
