Benchmark - Gospel Essentials
Christianity is a complex religion that is constantly discussed and debated. There are so
many different beliefs and opinions about Christianity. However, most people should agree that
the religion revolves around God, human nature, Jesus, and the restoration. God and Jesus are
two parts of the holy trinity which holds the entire religion together. Human nature is how
humans behave with the knowledge that God blesses them with. Restoration has to do with the
salvation God promises to his followers. These elements are what ties together the Christian
religion and studying them can help bring us closer to God.
God
God is the creator of everything. He is the creator of all of humanity and the entire
universe. God is everywhere and he knows everything. He has knowledge about everything that
has happened all throughout history. “Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God,
and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the
beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand, and I will do
all that I please” (
Isaiah 46:9-10
). God is love and He has everlasting love for all His children.
“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God
and knows God.
Anyone who does not love does not know God, because
God is love
”

). God is the most powerful thing in the universe. He wants us to be aware of His power so
we can put all of our trust in Him (Who is God, 2011). Last but not least, God is merciful. We
continuously sin against him, yet he still finds a way to forgive us if we seek Him. God is the
creator of everything, the ultimate forgiver, and He is our father.
Humanity

Human nature is simply what makes us human. Our nature is unique from the rest of
animals because we have the power to think and feel. One of the main things that us humans
have that other animals don’t is the ability to reason. This ability was given to us by God which
allows us to freely choose to follow Him. With the ability to reason, we are able to take
knowledge and perform amazing tasks which would be impossible without God’s help. Humans
