Fermentation: Lactate Fermentation – occurs in the muscles from exercising vigorously. Alcoholic Fermentation – produced from ethanol and CO 2 from Pyruvate using hydrogen ions and electrons from NADH. Fermentation Pathways Begin w/glycolysis Do NOT completely breakdown glucose. 2 ATP made Regenerate NAD + Fermentation Produces Lactic acid in smuscles, yogurt, and sour cream. CO 2 How Does Cellular Respiration Generate More Energy? 1. Acetyl CoA Formation Pyruvate >>>> Acetyl CoA 2. Krebs Cycle Generates NADH, FADH 2 3. Electron Transport Chain
