Discussion (WK4) Why should you avoid kid-bids in on-line auctions? Kid-bids online, just as in the natural world, can be rescinded. A minor, under the age of 18, may disaffirm a contract entered into with someone at the age of majority. In other words, a child can void a contract or bid because the child is under the age of 18. A minor can enter into any contract that is not prohibited by law. An adult who enters into a contract with a minor cannot rescind a contract made with a minor. Illegal contracts are considered void. What are other drawbacks to online auctions? Bad pictures and bad descriptions, fraud risk, as is, communication problems, delays, payment issues, and being disappointed. Bad pictures and bad descriptions - of the product that is being auctioned. fraud risk - Fraud complaints related to purchases on auction sites far exceed those from established vendors. It's hard to really know who you are buying from in some cases. Better auction sites are working hard to reduce or eliminate fraud, and you can protect yourself by
