Assignment Wk1 Lorie Stockton After reading the article “Execution Rules Still Inhuman” and listening to the NPR podcast, I still support capital punishment. There is an ongoing controversial debate through the country, should the United States continue the use of capital punishment? Referring to the December 2006 execution of Angel Dias, I believe that there needs to be a major reform of how the death penalty process. In the case of Dias’ execution, 14 vials of chemicals were needed to kill Dias 20 minutes after the normal procedure time of 14 minutes. The execution went so horribly wrong that the convict had chemical burns on both arms. Angel Dias committed a crime in which he deserved the death penalty; however, new protocols and procedures need to be enforced to ensure that no other execution is like Angel Dias’. Even though I support capital punishment, I do not believe that every person who commits deserves to die. I do support capital punishment for crimes that are so heinous, so
