Tom Marler CJAD 1010 DROPBOX #3 April 10, 2010 Violations Crime brings social unrest to a Country, State or City. Political leaders establish laws to help maintain social order within their borders. The criminal justice system groups violations into five categories, each having different punishments. By understanding criminal law and specific features of criminal offenses we can gain a better understanding of how social order is maintained throughout a society. For a society to function properly political leaders must create and restructure laws to maintain social order within their borders. Most societies govern by the rule of law because it assists them by maintaining order through principles and known codes which can be applied uniformly and fairly to all of their citizens. The intent of these principles is to let people know that no one is above the law, even individuals who create and enforce them. Once a law is broken there are certain steps and elements to consider before a guilty plea can be given. Crime brings social unrest to a society and their citizen’s; criminal law is the body of statutory and common laws that deal with crime and the legal punishment of criminal offenses. When a criminal
